The Well Equipped GI (Web and Field Gear)

The GI was arguably the best equipped soldier in WWII, and
this is the source to get your gear.

Items are either originals or reproductions, as listed below.

Enlisted Belts:  $7.  These are reproduction belts that can be used by
GI reenactors.  They are OD#7 green or OD #3 khaki with a black open
faced buckle and tip.  They are one size fits most and will likely have to
be cut to your size.  I took one of these OD #7 and washed it three times
and it came out to a very nice OD/Khaki color. Specify OD#3 or OD #7

Officer Belts:  $9 Reproduction, similar to above except with a shiny
brass tip and roller buckle.  Also OD#3 or #7.  Please specify which color.

Leggings: $9 these are unused original leggings size 3R.  The canvas
has no wear on it but the hardware is rusty and corroded, like most you
find.  This doesn't cut down on the serviceability and these make
excellent reenacting leggings.  3Rs fit the average sized guy…if you or
your legs are bigger, then you may need a bigger size from another
vendor.  I also have one pair of 2Rs for the smaller guys out there.

Individual Web gear Pieces:  These are new reproductions.

Repro Pick Mattock:
These came to be as repros but they are so
close to original, I wonder if they are.  They are marked Plumb 1944 and
come with an OD carrier as shown.  $30

-Upgrade to WWII transitional cover (green with khaki stap) $35
See pictures below with pick mattock covers to see covers.

Cheaper Repro Pick Mattock: $25  I have some lessor quality
undated pick mattocks.  They come with a OD cover that is WWII style.
These are a passable alternative to the correct ones, and no one will
ever know until you take it out of the cover.

Canteen with cups and covers:  $45 These reproduction covers
came from one of the bigger reenacting vendors and are the M-
1941mounted style, which are stronger.  They are equipped with cups
(post-war correct style) and canteens (WWII dates).  I can let you know
which vendor made the covers when you order.  Covers are not sold
separately by me.

Canteens with cups:  $15 These are generally WWII dated canteens
and cups, although all my stock is a little banged up.

Canteens: $12 Original WWII Dated Canteens.  These tend to have
dings in them, so I dropped the price.

Cups: $9 Original Postwar dated cups.  These have dings in them so I
dropped the price.

WWII dated Mess Kits: $7  All the mess kits I currently have are
somewhat banged around.  I will send the best one I have.

Gas Mask Bags:  $25 These are reproduction M-4 style kidney shaped
bags, and they seem well made.  My comparison to an original showed
one minor difference of a single rivet on the bottom being silver on the
repro versus being blackened on the original.  Hardware is dead on.
See picture to the left....

Carbine Pouch: $20 Nicely made reproduction for the 20 round
magazine.  Has sleeve on back like originals but has no snap.  Would
not scratch up your carbine stock!

Repro M-43 Entrenching Tool with cover:  $37.50  This is a non-US
made E-Tool that has been painted to correct WWII colors, matched up
with a transitional (khaki with green edging) cover.

Original M-43 Entenching Tool with cover: $40  This is a US WWII
1944 dated Ames, or 1945 dated wood  E-tool with a repro transitional
cover.

Riggers Type Pouch: $20 Nicely made reproduction pouch that is
marked on the inside as 30 round carbine ammo pouch.  It has two
internal compartments.  Nice pouch that has belt loops on the back.  Not
really a WWII design but looks very convincing and would be very
handy.  Much like a riggers pouch except better made.  See picture to
the left.

Repro Leggings:  $20 These are reproduction leggings, made in the
USMC pattern.  They are marked 4-R but they appear to be 3R to me.

Original Items

First Aid/Lensatic Compass Pouches:  These look like First Aid
Pouches to me, but the stamping on the back reads lensatic compass
pouch.  I beliefve the lensatic compass markings on them were probably
done after the war.  Someone did us all a favor by darkening in the US's
on them.
OD Green:  $10

Original Carbine Pouch:  $10
OD #7 Green 1945 dated

Pick Mattock Covers: I have a quantity of original pick mattock
covers...just covers, no handles or heads.

$10 green with US stamping and WWII dates
$7.50 green with no US stamping
These may have some serial numbers  on the outside of them

Rare 1916 dated M-1910 Shovel Carrier:  $15  This is a rare pre-
WWI dated M-1910 shovel cover that is serviceable but shows wear.
Also someone did us a favor by darkening in the US on this one.
